Jenn Vigh, founder and lead instructor at Aer Pilates

Meet Jenn, the founder

Pilates instructor, aerialist, and movement researcher.

Aer Pilates is a semi-private Reformer Pilates & Aerial Silks boutique in the St. Elmo District, South Austin.

Jenn's Pilates and aerial silks background originated from decades of experience as a dancer and performer. She found her passion for aerial silks during her time in the University of Georgia's Pre-Professional Aerial and Contemporary Dance Company. Not long after, she continued training and performing with Blue Lapis Light in Austin, TX.

Her Pilates practice was born from a personal journey of healing after a severe low-back injury. Through reformer and mat Pilates work, Jenn discovered the transformative power of movement to build strength, stability, and resilience. To her, the concept of Aer Pilates is not only her medicine, but her elevation platform for artistry and the constant play and challenge presented by Pilates and aerial silks combined.

Education + Pilates journey

Clinically trained. Globally taught.

Jenn completed her Pilates reformer and equipment certification in London with the world-renowned Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute (APPI), where she absorbed the latest clinical movement knowledge for rehabilitating clients in pain. She has taught in Melbourne, Australia, and worked in a clinic on Hampstead Heath in London with her original APPI educators.

Years of working with women through pre/postpartum and peri/post-menopause transitions led her to formalize that knowledge with APPI's Women's Health Certificate. Her hunger for a deeper, evidence-based understanding of the body led her to complete her MSc in Sports Therapy at London Metropolitan University in 2024.

Research

Advancing movement through women-centered research.

Jenn's work and studio are driven by a deep curiosity about human movement and a commitment to advancing the fields of Pilates and aerial arts through women-centered research. Her primary focus is exploring how the principles of Pilates can be integrated with aerial movement to create more effective, evidence-informed approaches to strength, rehabilitation, and psychological improvements.

While earning her Master's degree in Sports Therapy in London, Jenn developed a strong foundation in research methods, biomechanics, rehabilitation, and exercise science (specifically to study the obliques and deeper abdominals via the use of EMG). This experience shaped her approach to movement education and inspired the development of the AER Method — a system that combines Pilates and aerial arts to improve strength, confidence, body awareness, and long-term physical health.

Today, Jenn continues to lead pilot research studies through AER while building a research partnership with a university in Austin. Together, they are aiming to bring greater scientific precision to movement programming, with a particular emphasis on women's health — including pelvic-floor function, spinal health, and the role of movement in supporting lifelong wellbeing.

As the research evolves, Jenn's goal is to help bridge the gap between science and practice — ensuring that the AER Method continues to grow through evidence, innovation, and a commitment to improving the lives of women through movement.
